Beginnings

1974 — Childhood

Moniya roots & early performance

Olabode Oluwafemi was born on 22 October 1974 in Moniya, Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State, Nigeria. He grew up inside Yoruba cultural life — language, story, and community performance were not background noise; they were the air he breathed.

He began formal education at Akingbele Community Primary School, then continued at Abadina College in Ibadan. From childhood he performed on stage from school to school and in churches. Years later, speaking to Nigerian Tribune, he would say he has loved acting since those early days — that storytelling and interpreting roles drew him toward Nollywood long before the industry carried the global weight it holds today.

Those Moniya and Ibadan years established a pattern that still defines the work: discipline learned young, voice shaped in public, and a belief that culture belongs on stage and screen — not only in memory.
